I love good banh mi, and let me tell you, the meatball banh mi at LeLa’s Bistro on 23rd Ave. in Portland is ridiculously tasty. The lovely owners, Laura & Min, know how to build a great Vietnamese sando. LeLa’s bread, supplied by Binh Minh Bakery, is the most perfect banh mi baguette, comprised of a thin, crispy crust and a soft, airy honeycomb texture that’s not brittle, gummy or excessively chewy. The meatball filling is so tender, juicy and savory. I definitely need to go back and grab a few for my road trip back to LA!
