banh mi | lela’s bistro, portland

meatball banh mi sandwich lela's bistro portland oregonI love good banh mi, and let me tell you, the meatball banh mi at LeLa’s Bistro on 23rd Ave. in Portland is ridiculously tasty.  The lovely owners, Laura & Min, know how to build a great Vietnamese sando.  LeLa’s bread, supplied by Binh Minh Bakery, is the most perfect banh mi baguette, comprised of a thin, crispy crust and a soft, airy honeycomb texture that’s not brittle, gummy or excessively chewy.  The meatball filling is so tender, juicy and savory.  I definitely need to go back and grab a few for my road trip back to LA!
